CHESHIRE’S Olympic bronze medal star Beth Tweddle has received the sweetest honour of all – an ice cream created just for her.

Staff at Cheshire Farm Ice Cream made sure they did their best to give the 27-year-old a hero’s welcome when she returned to her hometown of Bunbury last week after her performance at London 2012, by letting her sample two ice creams designed especially for her.

The tasty treats included red, blue and white ice cream in honour of the Union Jack, and vanilla ice cream shot through with flashes of bronze shimmers to pay homage to Beth’s impressive victory on the uneven bars.

Beth’s special homecoming reception was organised by Cheshire East Council and Bunbury Parish Council, with Cheshire Farm Ice Cream's involvement specifically requested by parish council chairman Jo Mundell.

She said: “Beth deserves to be honoured, particularly by those people who have lived close to her for many years.

“Cheshire Farm Ice Cream are very much a part of the local community so we couldn't think of a better organisation to create a welcome home treat for Beth.”

Jonathan Fell, director of the ice cream farm, added: “Hundreds of residents turned out to welcome Beth home; we have followed her every step of the way and are so proud to have been selected to create her very own ice cream.”
