The Environment Agency has kept in force a flood warning for the River Dee at Chester.
As of Sunday morning the river levels at the Dee from Frog Lane, Shocklach to Chester are still high.
The warning, which is the second highest rated, has been in force for nearly a week .
A flood alert, the lesser of the two warnings, is in place for the wider stretch of the Dee which includes Chester itself, from Farndon, Handley, Lower Kinnerton, and Puddington.
A statement from the Agency said: "Levels on the Dee remain high and may riser further with continued rainfall in the area."
Cheshire Fire and Rescue Service has sent a number of rescue craft and vehicles to Cumbria to help in the aftermath of Storm Desmond.
Their crews were deployed on Friday in Farndon when the Dee burst its banks.
The weather forecast for Chester for the coming week looks mild, with temperatures of up to 14 degrees celscius. No rain is forecast and wind speeds are falling.
