CHESHIRE Constabulary’s environmental efforts have been rewarded in the Public Sector Sustainability Awards.

Karen Wickstead, facilities manager at the force’s Winsford headquarters, landed second place in the Sustainable Manager of the Year category.

The aims of the awards are to promote environmental leadership and innovation and inspire all those in the public sector committed to reducing the carbon footprint of their organisation.

Karen said: “This is the first time the constabulary has entered the awards and, considering we only entered one section, to be rewarded with second place is not only a magnificent achievement but also testament to the hard work and commitment everyone in the force places in reducing our carbon emissions.”

Emma Marvell, head of estates and facilities at Cheshire Constabulary’s HQ added: “This is great recognition of how far we’ve come as an organisation and of the hard work carried out by Karen, supported by the estates and facilities team and our environmental champions.

“The award is testament not only to Karen and the team but to the support provided by our senior leaders and the commitment of the police authority.”
