HOMELESS children will be riding high this Christmas thanks to the generous donation of more than 60 first bikes through the Chronicle BIG storage Christmas toy appeal.

Bike company Chitech Industries based at Aldford has generously donated the bikes to homeless family charity Save the Family as part of the Chronicle BiG Storage Xmas toy appeal.

Save the Family is one of the largest homeless families in the UK, it is based in Chester and provides emergency accommodation, training, and support to help individuals get back on their feet.

Chitech is a trade supplier of quality bikes to large volume customers throughout Europe, such as Toys R Us, and Tesco.Š

As well as their office in Aldford they have a dedicated factory based in China and a design studio based in California.

CEO of Chitech Roy Jones said: “I have done a great deal personally for local charities. I did a fundraising coast to coast charity ride for Claire House hospice raising £80,000 which we are very proud of. And as a company we have taken part in Bikes4Africa.”

“We sell bikes in bulk all over the world to large retailers including Tesco and Argos. Sometimes we are unable to sell them on due to packaging and the like, so instead of selling them to smaller bike shops we decided to donate them to Save the family.

“We are very pleased to be able to do this. It is nice that they are first bikes, because everyone remembers their first bike.”

Chairperson and founder of Save the Family Edna Speed said: “This donation will help to give children the chance to play and enjoy the outdoors. They will remember this for the rest of their lives.”
