Beaver Scouts from all over Cheshire celebrated a special birthday party in Chester.

Ninety-five youngsters, aged six to eight, from Christleton, Huntington, Malpas, Saltney, Sealand Road, Upton, Vicar’s Cross and Westminster Park groups celebrated the 30th anniversary of the founding of Beaver Scouts – the youngest section in Scouting – at the Fun4All play centre at Hartford Way.

The girls and boys enjoyed a sleepover followed by breakfast the following morning.

Evie Mallinson from the Westminster Park group designed a special badge to mark the occasion.

The party was organised by Kristy Collins, who as well as running the group at Vicar’s Cross also heads up the Beaver Scout programme in Chester and District.

She said: “We want to bring Scouting to as many young people as possible and we find that even at this very young age, they take to it with enthusiasm and they really get stuck in. “Although I don’t know who was most tired after the party, the youngsters or the adults!”
