An online restaurant booking provider has announced its top 100 list of restaurants that are 'fit for foodies' – and a Chester restaurant has scooped second place.

Chef's Table on Music Hall Passage beat off stiff competition from hundreds of other culinary hotspots to secure one of the top spots.

The annual list is chosen by more than 300,000 reviews submitted by OpenTable diners at more than 4,900 restaurants across the UK.

A customer review of The Chef's Table described it as 'a must for foodies who have a dislike for standard high street franchise restaurants'.

Popular BBQ restaurant Hickory's also made the top 100.

Vice-president of OpenTable Europe Adrian Valeriano said: “OpenTable diners are the true detectives of what really makes a dining experience great.

"Their continuous and combined feedback from all over the country reveals some of the best restaurants for all ‘foodie fanatics’ out there.

"Each restaurant has literally brought something new to the table and impressed our diners with their culinary creativity."
