After more than 10 years of his alarm going off at 4.30am, Dee 106.3 ’s breakfast show host Gavin Matthews will get a well-deserved lie-in when he switches to the station’s popular drivetime slot after the Easter weekend.
From Tuesday, April 7, Dee 106.3 will have a brand new line-up as Mike James moves from the middle of the day slot to hosting the breakfast show, swapping with Jamie Stevens who will host the daytime show which will feature a new look showbiz hour.
Gavin, whose new working hours will be from 2pm-7pm, said he is looking forward to providing a ‘fast-moving show’ while listeners drive home from work.
“It was just about time for me to renew my alarm clock, but I won’t need to do that now,” he said.
“I’m looking forward to taking my show to the afternoons. All my regular guests will be coming with me. I will be introducing some new features to get local people involved in the show, and I will be going to bed not far short of the time when I used to get up!”
The Chronicle will join Gavin at breakfast for the last time on Thursday but we will be moving with him to discuss the week’s news on Wednesday evenings from April 8.
