CCTV coverage has been expanded in Faulkner Street in Hoole to help reduce anti-social behaviour.

All images are transmitted live to Cheshire West and Chester Council’s 24 hour CCTV control room, where operators can actively monitor incidents and alert relevant agencies such as police or help for vulnerable people.

Hoole’s two local councillors Alex Black and Bob Thompson back the CCTV installation.

“This is a wonderful idea,” said Cllr Black. “It makes the area safer for both residents and shop owners thereby benefiting the whole of the community and makes Hoole even more vibrant and welcoming.”

Cllr Thompson added: “The business community has a great deal of confidence in CCTV and Faulkner Street is an important economic hub not just for Hoole, but also Chester. CCTV helps make the area more safe and secure.”

So far the expanded CCTV has dealt with alleged incidents of anti-social behaviour and helped to track down missing people.
