Roadworks to resurface the pavement on Castle Drive in Chester, which have closed the road for more almost a month, are likely to finish ahead of schedule.
Engineers are hoping to reopen the road by Monday, April 18.
The work was scheduled to take 61 days from March 14, which would have coincided with the opening of the Chester Races season on May 4 and the arrival of Pat Collins fair at the Little Roodee.
