A CAR showroom caught fire damaging two vehicles as Cheshire Fire and Rescue battled to stop the blaze spreading to the buildings roof.

Appliances from Ellesmere Port, Chester – including the aerial platform – and Deeside were called to the Cheshire Trade Centre, Parkgate Road, Saughall, at about 11pm last night (Wednesday).

Red watch manager John Caulfield – who battled the blaze until about 3am – said: “Some cars were involved.

“We prevented the fire from spreading in to the roof space.

“Positive pressure ventilation fans were used to control the smoke.

“Six officers using breathing apparatus used three hose reels to extinguish the fire.

“The cause is under the investigation.”
