FIGHTING plans to build a giant wind farm could cost even more money after developers removed one of the turbines.

With less than two months before the public inquiry into the proposed wind farm on Frodsham Marshes, campaigners are being forced to make changes to their evidence after developers Peel Energy changed their plans.

Residents Against the Windfarm (RAW) are being forced to bin an expensive photo montage showing how the 20 turbines would impact on the landscape and character of the area due to fears it would be rejected by the inspector.

The group was originally given a grant of £1,000 from Frodsham Town Council to get the professional photo montage developed but now, after Peel removed one of the turbines, they will have to redesign and redevelop the image or it could be rejected as inaccurate.

Mayor of Frodsham Cllr Andrew Dawson said the new montage would cost another £1,000 to produce, but this could be funded out of his personal Cheshire West and Chester Council (CWaC) £10,000 community grant fund.

“The inquiry is quickly approaching so they will need the money quite urgently,” said Cllr Dawson.

“I've asked many of the expected questions, such as why the company producing the montage can't simply remove the now deleted turbine.

“There is the feeling the £1,000 given to RAW by the town council has been wasted, but if they don’t make a new montage we run the risk of the evidence being rejected as inaccurate by the inspector.”

As the Chronicle went to press Cllr Dawson was yet to make a decision as to whether to donate £1,000 to RAW saying that he needed to weigh up the options and discuss each case with his fellow local CWaC councillors.

The inquiry into Peel Energy’s plans runs from November 22-December 23 at the Holiday Inn, Runcorn.
