A CAFE is proposed in a Chester suburb.

The premises, an end of terrace property at the junction of Christleton Road and Sandy Lane, were originally a chemist, according to a report.

Applicant Mr P Prescott has told planning officers he is seeking approval for the change of use at 24 Christleton Road, which is currently empty.

The hours of business would be 7am to 6pm.

A Sandy Lane occupier has raised concerns about parking but planners suggest the cafe would be in a suitable location as there is a public car park directly opposite.

No objections have been raised by the County Engineer.

The change to a cafe would encourage the flow of pedestrians in the mixed residential and commercial locality, suggest planning officers and would bring the vacant unit back into use.

They do not believe it would have an unacceptable effect on residential amenity.

Recommending the application should be approved, they argue the cafe would improve the vitality and viability of that part of Boughton.

The cafe is due to be considered at a meeting of the city's planning board taking place at the Crowne Plaza Hotel on Wednesday, December 3 at 10.30am.
