A burst water main is causing disruption in Mickle Trafford this morning (Monday June 1).

The burst meant Mickle Trafford Village Primary School has been delayed in opening and it is believed some homes in the village have been left without water.

A statement from suppliers Dee Valley Water appeared on the school's website at 4am this morning, saying the problem would take 4-5 hours to repair.

It said: "There has been a mains burst in Mickle Trafford on the A56. Our engineers are investigating with a view to making a repair which is estimated to take 4-5 hours.

"We are using all our resources to return the supply back to normal and are sorry for any inconvenience caused. It is possible some properties in Mickle Trafford may experience a water shortage or a discolouration of water. Should this happen, please run the tap thoroughly until the water becomes clear."

An later update on the school's website later said: "Although the water is now back on we need to ensure that the water coming into school is clean. School will open at 10am today."
