Preparations for Bunbury Village Day on Saturday, June 20 are now well under way.

There will be a TV and film theme to celebrate the current Home Fires ITV series that was filmed in the village and Catherine Oldfield, executive producer, has given the day a welcome endorsement.

Home Fires, filmed in Bunbury, has been a huge success for ITV

She said: “We loved filming in Bunbury and so we’re thrilled that Home Fires has inspired the theme for this year’s Bunbury Village Day.”

To continue the theme, Julie Summers, author of the original Jambusters book, will be opening the event and holding a book signing too.

And the Bunbury Playground Committee will be putting their first spade in the ground to start work on the highly anticipated improvements to the playing fields playground.

Alongside the fairground attractions, puppet show and donkeys will be climbing towers and Segway rides. There’ll also be craft and food stalls, a classic car display and photo opportunities.

The parade will leave from the church at 12.30pm, with fancy dress based on your favourite TV or film star, moving on to the playing fields for 1pm.
