The driver of a Transit van involved in a collision where a Broughton man was killed has been arrested and released on bail pending the result of further tests.

The 26-year-old driver was arrested after failing a roadside drug swipe test.

North Wales Police confirmed the deceased man as 35 year-old Paul Michael Sadler, who was hit on the A5104 in Broughton on Saturday night January 7, at the junction with Queens Way.

Mr Sadler was taken to Countess of Chester Hospital but died of his injuries on Monday morning.

The family of Mr Sadler have been left 'heartbroken'.

Police have renewed their appeal for witnesses to the incident, which left the road closed off for four hours.

North Wales Police Sergeant Emlyn Hughes said: “Our thoughts remain with the man’s family at this time and they are now being supported by a Family Liaison Officer.

“We would like to speak to anyone who may have been within the area at the time and witnessed the collision, or to anybody who may have seen the pedestrian or van prior to the incident, to contact us.”
