Two brothers have been charged with stabbing a man in the stomach during an alleged dispute near Brook Street.

John and Martin Moore appeared in court following the alleged incident at around 11.30pm on Saturday (October 25) in Chester.

The brothers, who both live in Cornwall Street in Newtown, are said to have stabbed victim Warren Hooper with a knife in the stomach in Charles Street.

The victim was taken to the Royal Liverpool Hospital for treatment for his injuries, where he remains in a stable condition.

Four men and one woman were arrested in connection to the incident, say police.

The Moore brothers were charged with unlawfully and maliciously wounding Mr Hooper during a hearing at Chester Magistrates Court today (Monday, October 27).

John, 51, and Martin, 42, are also charged with having a knife which they allegedly used to threaten the victim.

The pair, who gave no indication of plea, spoke only to confirm their names during the short hearing.

They were remanded in custody and are due to appear before Chester Crown Court on November 10 for preliminary hearing.

One man has been bailed by police pending further enquires.

The other man and woman were released without charge.
