Drama unfolded along the Shropshire Union Canal in Boughton last night (August 31) when a man was rescued from the water.

Emergency services were called to the scene near Wharton Court shortly after 10pm.

The man, who is in his 40s, was taken to the Countess of Chester Hospital with what are believed to be non-life threatening injuries.

Two fire engines, a rescue boat, ambulance, rapid response vehicle and police attended the incident.
