A NEW football team will be kicking off the new season in a brand new kit courtesy of Blue Planet Aquarium.

The aquarium, in Cheshire Oaks, is sponsoring Blacon Youth Under 8s in the Chester and District Junior League – Mini Soccer. The season started on Saturday (September 25).

It is the first time the aquarium has got involved in sponsoring a local football team and they are hoping the smart new kit will inspire the youngsters.

Blue Planet Aquarium’s Paul Reynolds said: “The kids have been great and very enthusiastic. This will be their first season and we’re all wishing them the very best of luck.

“In the end we arranged for Charlie the Clownfish to officially present the new strip to the children on a visit to the aquarium and they all seemed really pleased with how it looked.

“We decided to sponsor Blacon Youth Under 8s as they are local to the aquarium and are a totally new team so they need all the help and assistance they can get to help become established,” he added.

The team play their home games at Cairns Crescent in Blacon and manager Darren Pattison is delighted to be starting a new season with a brand new kit.

“We’re extremely grateful that Blue Planet have agreed to sponsor the team for this year and we hope the youngsters will be inspired to do well,” he said.
