Pupils at St Theresa’s RC Primary School in Blacon did their bit for the annual Poppy Appeal this year.
The youngsters have been selling poppies, wristbands and pins and collecting on behalf of the Royal British Legion in support of the 2015 Poppy appeal. They collected in school and at Blacon Parade Shops to fill more than one appeal box.
Site maintenance officer at the school Noel Magill MBE said: “The response both from the children and local community has been fantastic in support of this worthy cause.
“We haven’t had our total confirmed yet but my conservative estimate would be in the region of £400.”
The event culminated in a Remembrance Day assembly lead by deputy headteacher Andrew Harvey during which poems written by Year 6 pupils were read out.
Each child within the school also purchased a poppy for the assembly which were placed in on a large white cross.
