A nine-year-old girl from Blacon has donated her hair to a charity that makes wigs for children with cancer.

Sophie Marsh, a pupil at St Theresa’s RC Primary School and whose hair measured 33 inches, decided to go for the chop when she heard about the Little Princess Trust.

Mum Lisa said: “Sophie has wanted her hair cut for some time but because of the length from root to end we’ve always put her off.

“By donating it to a little girl or boy with cancer makes her feel happy that she’s helping someone who’s suffering. She is such a kind girl who doesn’t like to see anyone suffer and me and her dad are so proud of her.”

Sophie had 21 inches of her hair cut off at the salon on Saughall Road in Blacon.
