YOUNGSTERS at Bickerton Primary hosted visitors from their twin school in Ukraine.

Pupils’ families hosted guests from Hope School in Odessa during a week of cultural activities.

Pupils at the Long Lane school treated their guests to a ceilidh with ploughman’s supper, maypole dancing, cream teas and workshops in British art, gardening, food and poetry.

The Ukrainian visitors in turn gave talks about their school, home city, traditions, food and crafts.

The week culminated in a celebration of both cultures with food tasting and dancing.

Organiser Katy Boothby said: “We made new friends and had new experiences. It was a truly unforgettable week.”
