A FAMILY-RUN Beeston business is celebrating a gold award at the RHS Tatton Show.

Beeston Reclamation, based near Tarporley in association with Beeston landscapes, created the hard landscaping and carried out the installation of the Plant Hunter’s Retreat garden at the show.

The garden pays tribute to Harry Delaney, an RHS Tutor at Reaseheath College.

He inspired his students his students to develop the garden which celebrated plant hunters past and present – intrepid gardeners who travel far and wide in search of new and exciting introductions.

The garden was designed by Harry’s Evening Stars, a group of students who have studied with Harry for RHS qualifications at evening class.

The garden had plants from the Americas, Asia and Australasia. The path through the garden represents the travel and journeys made by the plant hunters.

Trevor Jones, director of Beeston Reclamation and Beeston Landscapes, said: “We are honoured to have been awarded gold for our garden at this year’s RHS Tatton Show.

“It is particularly special because it was our first year at the show.

“We did face a great deal of tough competition as there were so many wonderful gardens on show in the ‘back to back garden’ section.”

The gardeners from Harry’s Evening Stars involved in the project were Marc Brimble, Margaret Kewley, Peter Armstrong Child, Maile Belanger, Richard Bowser, Pauline Clarke and Colin Greenwood.

The group designed the garden in their classes and funded it themselves, with the help of Beeston Reclamation. They were congratulated on their gold award by TV gardening expert Joe Swift.
