TWO brothers who work at a Beeston salvage yard have been filmed for a prime time ITV show.

Seeking Salvage – an eight-part series that follows the day-to-day working lives of two reclamation yards in the North West – followed Trevor and Lee Jones for eight weeks as they attempted to turn unwanted items such as bricks, marble or paving stones into cash.

The fly-on-the wall documentary, which also features another yard in Preston, is filmed on location at Beeston Reclamation yard and is currently airing on the History channel on Tuesday evenings, before it’s shown on a prime time slot on ITV early next year.

Beeston Reclamation was chosen out of more than 60 across the UK to be featured on the show and the Jones brothers couldn’t be happier that their village will get some recognition and hope it will have a positive impact on the community.

“It’s been really exciting and hopefully the show will be good for the locals,” said elder brother Trevor, 39, who owns the yard.

“It’ll be great exposure but it will also let people know a bit about us and what we can sell – there are lots of people out there who have no idea of what we do.

“It was utterly weird having a camera crew following us round every day but we soon got used to it and just cracked on with our everyday work - in fact it was strange when they left!”

And though inevitably the siblings have had their ups and downs over the 17 years that Lee, 38, has been working for Trevor, they still remain close friends.

“Like I say on the programme, working with my brother has its moments but we’re very close,” adds Trevor.

“I’m excited that the show will be aired on ITV as I think people are going to find it really interesting.

“A lot of people go to B&Q or other DIY shops and spend money on buying brand new materials when they can get perfectly good material at a yard and recycle at the same time.”

Seeking Salvage is airing now on the History Channel on Tuesdays at 10pm. It will be broadcast in the New Year.
