A 12-year-old music student at The Hammond has become the bookies' favourite to win Britain's Got Talent after blowing judges away on Saturday night's episode.

Beau Dermott received a standing ovation for her faultless performance of Defying Gravity from Wicked and was sent straight through to the semi-finals after Amanda Holden pushed the Golden Buzzer.

Now Beau, from Widnes, is the early 3/1 favourite to go all the way in ITV's popular talent contest.

Aoife Heffron, from bookmaker BoyleSports said: “Beau Dermott blew everyone away with her performance of Defying Gravity and undoubtedly deserved the Golden Buzzer.

"It may be early days but she is holding on to favouritism at 3/1 with her nearest competition Trip Hazard and Lucy at 12/1.”

Beau has won praise on social media and Emma Hatton - who currently stars as Elpheba in the West End production of Wicked - tweeted: “Just caught up and watched the video of Beau singing Defying Gravity on @BGT. She’s awesome!”

The official Twitter feed for the 'global musical phenomenon' even posted about Beau's impressive rendition.
