Beau Dermott has a new rival for the Britain's Got Talent title – and he's her cousin

Ballet dancer Jack Higgins is a member of the same talented family

Britain's Got Talent child stars Beau Dermott and Jack Higgins are cousins

Beau Dermott faces serious competition for the Britain’s Got Talent title – from her cousin.

Chester Hammond School pupil Beau is one of the bookies’ favourites to win the ITV show and the 12-year-old is already through to the semi-finals, having wowed judges by singing Defying Gravity from the musical Wicked.

But the talent show is becoming a family affair after Beau’s cousin, Jack Higgins, performed a jaw-dropping ballet routine to secure his place in the next round.

Jack, 14, danced to A Great Big World’s classic Say Something (I’m Giving Up On You), and walked away with four ‘yeses’ from judges Simon Cowell, Alesha Dixon, Amanda Holden and David Walliams.

It has since emerged that Beau and Jack are related, and their proud mums are twin sisters.

Jack’s mum Debbie, 45, told The Sun: “He and Beau used to do little shows for me and [my sister] Karen all the time. To do what they did on that stage is amazing.

“Karen and I speak every day and compare notes. We’re so close and live 10 minutes from each other. We see each other all the time as a family.”

Despite their family ties, Beau and Jack auditioned separately and appeared on different episodes of the programme, one week apart.

Jack insisted he was not worried about competing against his cousin on the show.

Explaining he sees their acts as ‘completely different’, the teenager is hoping he and Beau – who is from Widnes – both make it to the final.

“We’re best friends,” he said. “We bake cakes and make videos of us singing and dancing. We would love to be in a musical together.”

Britain’s Got Talent returns to ITV on Saturday at 8pm.
