THOUSANDS of fans from South Cheshire are expected to create a sea of green and white at Birmingham City's St Andrews stadium on Saturday as Nantwich Town go for glory.

With just three days to go before the Dabbers take on Hillingdon Borough in the final of the FA Vase competition, the Chronicle is urging football fans to get behind the boys.

Town chairman Clive Jackson said: 'We've sold 1,400 tickets so far but I expect to see nearer to 3,000 there on the day. A lot of merchandise has been sold so we should see a lot of green and white.

'I expect it will be a fantastic day out for the people and all our on-field preparations are focused on Saturday's game.

'We've got a very real chance of promotion this season so let's see if we can achieve the double.'

Mr Jackson urges fans to buy tickets from the club office in Jackson Avenue at Nantwich or from Crewe Alex's ticket office at Gresty Road in Crewe, and not to buy them at the ground on the day.

He said: 'There is no guarantee of getting the seat you want on the day otherwise. Also, the club gets a 20% cut of the ticket sales if they buy from us.

'I hope people will buy in advance to help the club out financially because paying on the day means we get nothing.'

Tickets are available from Crewe Alex's ticket office (01270 252610) until 5pm tomorrow (Thursday). They are also on sale from the club in Jackson Avenue, Nantwich (10am and 4pm today, 10am to 8pm tomorrow and Friday) at £15 and £10 for adults, concessions £5.

Travel seats, courtesy of Mal-bank Coaches are £12 (01270 628848) with coaches leaving between 11.30am and 12.30pm.
