Things are moving very slowly on the M56 near Frodsham today, as festival-goers leave the Creamfields site in Daresbury and other road users get out and about to enjoy August Bank Holiday Monday.

There is queuing traffic on the eastbound stretch between junction 10 for the A49 and junction 9 for the M6 at Lymm Interchange, so motorists heading away from Chester towards Manchester are likely to experience some disruption to their journeys.

An earlier broken down vehicle added to the traffic woes when a lane had to be closed between junctions 11 and 10 to enable its recovery.

Motorists are advised to plan alternative routes in case of delays and to carry plenty of water.
