BANJO players raised hundreds of pounds for Children in Need as they put on a mass performance in Helsby.

On Thursday, 60 musicians travelled to the Eccies – former ex servicemen’s club – in Helsby to take part in a fundraising night for the BBC charity.

The evening raised £800 and saw the players, who attend the weekly bluegrass sessions, take part in raffles, games and performances.

The highlight of the night saw crowds watch a mass rendition of Duelling Banjos as the players, led by Stuart Williams and Michael Giverin, performed together after weeks of practice.

The players meet every Thursday at the Eccies from 8.30-10pm.
