A trespasser on the line has caused disruption to rail services between Chester and Liverpool.

The incident has resulted in some services being cancelled and others may continue to be affected in the next half hour.

The trespasser was spotted on the railway near Bache station, the first station on the line between Chester and Liverpool.

A statement on the Merseyrail website said: "Cancellations to services at Bache due to a trespasser on the railway earlier at Bache. The Chester line is disrupted.

"Train services running through this station are returning to normal but some services may still be cancelled or delayed. Disruption is expected until 11.30am."
