A CHESTER woman has received a Crown Court commendation for her bravery after witnessing a street robbery.

Susan Wilkinson, of Tomkinson Street, Hoole was honoured by the Recorder of Chester Judge Elgan Edwards for helping the victim of the robbery in Hoole.

The victim, said to be a student living in the Handbridge area of Chester, was assaulted by 21-year-old Jonathan Aaron Holding of Lightfoot Street on November 1 last year.

Holding was arrested shortly afterwards and recalled to prison.

He was later sentenced to six years in prison at Chester Crown Court after being found guilty of robbery.

The court heard how Holding followed the victim from Walker Street to Tomkinson Street in Hoole before attacking him.

He kicked the man in the face before demanding his iPod and cigarettes.

Holding then fled the scene after witness Mrs Wilkinson came out of her house and intervened.

Mrs Wilkinson shouted at the attacker as he ran away and took the victim into her home before calling 999.

She then looked after him until police and paramedics arrived.
