PICKERINGS Pasture could receive a cash boost from a photographer who is giving a percentage of the cash made from sales of her work to the nature reserve.

Liverpool-based Michelle Burrows, 42, is holding the latest in a series of North West displays of her work at the Widnes beauty spot, but it will be the first time she has had a solo exhibition.

Michelle, a former nurse who works as a driver for the North West Patient Transport Service, believes her photographs and paintings can have a therapeutic, stress relieving effect on patients and she often has her work on display in hospitals.

Michelle, a member of the Red Dot artist collective, said: 'Making pictures is an enjoyable process and provides a much-needed creative outlet. I am also motivated by strongly believing that images and colour affect mood and that our environments are crucial to our well-being.

'I am very encouraged to see an increase in artwork displayed in hospitals.

'Working for the ambulance service, I encounter many people who are anxious and frightened and providing pleasing environments with carefully chosen artwork goes a long way to making them feel calmer.'

Admission to the exhibition, which is open 9am-5pm, August 26-28, is free.
