Two men have been jailed for a combined total of 13 years for the armed raid of an Ellesmere Port off-licence.

Kenneth Brown, 52, was sentenced to 7 years and 9 months in prison for his part in the armed robbery

Kenneth Brown, 52, and Terence Roberts, 38, admitted threatening staff at Port Wines on Hope Farm Precinct with a knife and imitation firearm on October 9 last year, before making off with cash and cigarettes.

Terence Roberts, 38, was sentenced to 6 years in prison for his part in the armed robbery

At Chester Crown Court last week, Brown, of Briarfield Road, Ellesmere Port, was sentenced to seven years and nine months behind bars, while Roberts, of Flint Court, Ellesmere Port, was handed a six-year sentence.

Chief Inspector Deborah Dodd, of Ellesmere Port and Neston Neighbourhood Policing Unit, said: “Robbery is a serious crime and one that can have a major impact on victims and the sentences handed down by the courts reflects this.

“Cheshire police is committed to tackling robbery and we want to reassure the community that we take any incidents of this nature extremely seriously and we will do all we can to trace those responsible and ensure they are brought to justice.

“This is a significant result and we hope that it serves as a warning to others that if you choose to come into Ellesmere Port and break the law, you will be actively targeted, caught and punished.”
