ALTERATIONS were made to plans for a detached double garage with first floor storage in a Green Belt village.

The application was made at The Thatched Cottage on Townfield Lane, Mollington by Mr Chris Palin.

The garage would be at the front of the property where proposals were agreed in November last year for a two storey extension at the side, a new roof and the relocation of a driveway, according to a report.

Mollington Parish Council objected to an initial application by Mr Palin describing the new build as “extremely large” and suggesting there was no need for such a large storage space above the garage.

The garage would have been 8.3m by 6m with a height of 5.6m said planning officers at Cheshire West and Chester Council.

Following discussions with Mr Palin, the storage was removed and the garage would be one storey. There would be two lights to the front and two to the rear.

Planners pointed out the property had already been increased by 60% and further extensions needed to be carefully considered.

The original plans would have been detrimental to the openness of that part of the Green Belt.

The revised garage was more modest in size and would not be harmful. It would not have an unacceptable effect on the character of the area.

Planning officers recommended the application could have permission and this was agreed by the borough council.
