CHILDREN at Aldford School have been learning about art from around the world.

The Foundation class looked at Indian Mendhi patterns, and infant classes explored Aboriginal art and Mexico.

Year 3 produced artwork relating to their history topic of Ancient Egypt while Years 4, 5 and 6 made native North American masks, created their own Ancient Greek vases and designed mythical characters whilst exploring African art and design.

And Kelsall drummer Sekou Kompo led the youngsters in a junior chef academy cookery session.

The children got ‘hands on’ with the percussion instruments and thoroughly enjoyed the chance to really ‘make some noise’.

Sekou developed the children’s understanding of West African culture by performing a wide range of songs from his homeland.
