A SIX-YEAR-OLD boy who cut off his hair to donate it as a wig to charity has smashed his fundraising target and is now planning to do the whole experience all over again.

Malachai Caswell-Jones had been growing his hair since the age of four to make a wig for bald children suffering from leukaemia, but last week had his locks, which hung to the bottom of his back, chopped off for the first time in two years.

He will be sending it to the Little Princess Trust which provides real-hair wigs to youngsters who have lost their own hair through cancer treatment.

Each wig costs the charity £350 to make, which was Malachai’s minimum fundraising target initially.

But the Saighton Primary School pupil, who lives in Aldford, has already surpassed his goal by almost £200, and has now decided he wants to grow his hair again to make another wig.

His father Michael described him as ‘a little character’ who has caught the fundraising bug.

“You never know what Malachai’s thinking so he just came out with the fact that he wanted to do it all again, but that’s just how lovely he is,” he said.

“The whole school came to watch him have his hair cut last week and we had a tremendous amount of support from everybody – I think Malachai quite likes the limelight!”

He added: “He wasn’t as upset to have his hair cut as his mum was, he just wants to do it all again.

“Once you start fundraising I think it’s in your blood then and you just want to keep on doing it.

“Hopefully the donations will keep coming, we have had so much support from so many people, it’s been great.”
