Pupils from a Chester school headed to the capital for a day at the Houses of Parliament and Tower of London.

The lower sixth-form history and politics students from Abbey Gate College were joined by Chester MP Chris Matheson for their tour of Parliament.

Mr Matheson spoke about the history of Westminster Hall and also the protocols when he is in the House of Commons for a vote.

A Tube ride and short walk to the Tower of London followed, when the students were greeted by a Beefeater and shown to the education room, where they were given an insight into the lives of the people in the Tudor period. They also learned about the Tower and its inhabitants between the 12th and 20th centuries.
