Abbey Gate pupils represented the college at The Shropshire Speech and Drama Festival held at Moreton Hall School.

Thirteen pupils competed in a variety of classes ranging from Verse Speaking and Prose Reading to Acting and Mime.

On the first day Year 11 pupils, Heather Churchill-Evans, Gabby Parker and Harry Tomlins excelled, winning every class they entered.

Harry was placed first in the Solo Shakespeare class and won the trophy for first place in his Reading class.

Heather and Gabby won first-place medals for their Acted Duologue.

The following day, Mimi Jayaram won the first-place cup in her Reading class with Francesca Ward in second place.

Clara Carson and Emily Holroyd won the first place trophy for their Mime Duologue and Hannah Berry and Maisie Watkins came second. Annabel Kirk gained third place in her Reading Class and Hannah Berry was third in Solo Drama. Amy Clayton and Clara Carson were placed second in the Acted Duologue class for Years 7, 8 and 9, which was won by Emma Swallow and Francesca Ward with an ‘outstanding’ grade of over 90.
