A broken down HGV which provided an early morning headache for commuters coming into Chester this morning has been removed.

Although most major roads are moving well today (Friday, October 9), the exit slip from the A55 on to the A51 at Vicars Cross was down to one lane for vehicles travelling eastbound due to the broken down lorry just after 7.30am.

However, police report the northbound lane has now reopened and the broken down lorry has been removed.

Elsewhere, there are no problems being reported with traffic said to be busy but moving on St Oswald's Way in Chester, Wrexham Road and on the A41 at Backford Cross.

Further afield, traffic is reported to be 'stop-start' on the M56 eastbound between junction nine with the M6 (Lymm interchange) and junction seven A556 at Bowdon.

However, traffic is said to be slow on the M62 eastbound between junction 10 M6 (Croft interchange) and junction 11 A574 at Birchwood.
