A 46-year-old HGV driver has been bailed after Friday's fatal crash on the A55 near Chester.

The man, from Holywell, was arrested on suspicious of causing death by dangerous driving after the multi-vehicle collision near Balderton at 11.35am on September 4.

Sadly a man died in the crash on the A55 Westbound between junction 36A at Broughton and junction 38, the Posthouse Roundabout.

A Cheshire Police spokesman said: "A 46-year-old man was been bailed pending further police enquiries."

An 80-year-old woman was also airlifted to hospital and is making a 'good recovery' .

A beige Citroen Xsara Picasso, a white Ford Transit van and a white DAF HGV lorry were involved in the accident.

Inspector Liz Cunningham said: “We are looking to appeal to anyone who was in the local area at the time of the incident and believes that they may be able to help with our investigation.

“I am particularly interested in speaking to anyone who might have seen a broken down Citroen Xsara Picasso and a white recovery vehicle on the hard shoulder around the time of the collision."
