A car went on fire after a collision on the A55 southerly bypass in Chester involving a total of four cars.

The accident happened near Christleton just before 6pm on Wednesday (August 26) causing one vehicle to burn ferociously.

Fortunately, nobody was trapped in the vehicles.

Two fire engines from Chester and one fire engine from Wrexham attended the scene. Firefighters wearing breathing apparatus used one hose reel to extinguish the car that was described by the fire service as 'well alight'.

Police officers and paramedics were also in attendance. The road was closed while the incident was tackled. One person was taken to hospital by ambulance but their condition is unknown.
