CHRISTMAS is just around the corner but with the credit crunch still hitting hard, we’ll all be thinking twice before we part with our hard-earned cash.

However, it doesn’t cost a lot to bring a smile to deserving young people who need cheering up this Christmas.

That’s what this year’s Chronicle-BiG Storage Make a real difference Gift Appeal is all about.

Last year brought a record response from generous Chronicle readers of gifts and donations that helped hundreds of children in and around Chester remember Christmas for all the right reasons.

This year, we once again invite you to bring some seasonal cheer to children who will find themselves homeless through no fault of their own and in the care of Save the Family, one of our leading local charities.

However, these are not the only young people who face a bleak time – we’re asking our readers to nominate other young people up to the age of 16 in and around Chester for whom an extra gift would make a big difference.

It doesn’t always cost money to bring a smile to a young person’s face. We’re appealing for new or good quality used gifts and items.

Sealand Road-based BiG Storage, which is behind the appeal, will be the main drop off point for any gifts. The donations will then be stored they are needed for Christmas delivery.
