A-level students are flying the flag for Ellesmere Port’s University Church of England Academy (UCEA).

School leavers at the academy have a bright future ahead of them as they celebrate an impressive year for A-level results.

The overall pass rate at UCEA continues to rise, this year reaching 98%, with 77% of grades being equivalent to grade C or above and 50% being A*, A, or B.

Sixty two grades were at A* or A and every student that applied has received the necessary points for their first choice university.

Kevin McDermott, principal at UCEA, said: “I am delighted with this year’s A-level results for the academy. They are the culmination of hard work by both students and staff and timely support from parents.

“The students’ achievements are a reflection of their commitment to our vision of success for all and this set of results demonstrates our continued improvement.

“There have been some outstanding individual performances, including Hannah Stalgis-Jones, who was awarded four A* grades and I would like to congratulate all our ‘A’ level students on these fantastic achievements and wish them well on their next exciting step in life.”
