ALMOST 200 people stepped out from Chester Racecourse on Sunday to help raise funds in the 2011 CBC Chester Charity Walk, organised by the Chester Business Club.

With the Grosvenor Shopping Centre as the main sponsors, the event was this year in support of a range of charities including the Multiple Sclerosis Support Centre, the Mercian Regiment Benevolent Fund, Mum’s Chums, Children Today, CLASP (Chester Learning & Support Providers) and Parkinson’s UK (Chester branch).

Walk chairman Peter Humphreys said: “Although it’s too early to be certain about the total amount we raised, early indications show we are thinking in terms of £10,000 or so.”

It was the 24th year that Chester Business Club has staged the walk which, over the years, has raised in excess of £250,000 for local charities and good causes.

Part of its appeal to participants are the four refreshment stages provided – Mars Bars, Orange Juice, Bacon Butty and Coffee, and finishing with Gin and Tonic.
