Glasses were raised to celebrate the success of Hatchmere’s Carriers Inn in the Marston’s Pub of the Year Awards 2014.

The venue was named the North Region’s Best Pub Restaurant.

Licensee Andrew Milton, said: “This award proves we’ve stood the test of time over the last eight years and that we’re maintaining the same standards of excellence that won us the same award the last time we entered in 2008.”

The pub offers a wide range of home cooked food that Andrew likes to call ‘posh pub’ food.

Andrew added: “Our customers might think we’re a gastro pub, but we’re not really.

“We have a pretty diverse menu from pub classics to things like venison, and our customers love the fact that they can come dressed up for an evening meal or dressed down for a pub lunch. They also like knowing that almost everyone who works here has been with us since we took over eight years ago, which makes everyone feel very comfortable.”

Becky Whitlock-Torr, business development manager at Marston’s Inns &amp; Taverns, said: “With 300 other pubs in the area, the Carriers Inn has done very well to finish top. It's a fantastic achievement for Andrew Wilton and his team. For many pubs, food represents a significant percentage of weekly takings but keeping customers coming back is a real challenge with so much choice available. <em/> ”

The Carriers Inn now goes forward to the national round of the competition. Winners will be announced at a sparkling event at the Hotel du Vin, Birmingham, on Thursday, June 5.
