WINE educator Julia Tickridge, a lecturer at West Cheshire College, has been awarded her WSET Diploma in Wines and Spirits.

She was presented to Hugh Johnson OBE, writer and broadcaster and honorary president of the Wine and Spirit Education Trust, at the Wine and Spirit Education Trust graduation ceremony which took place in the Guild Hall.

Many of the great and the good of the world of wine were in attendance, including representatives from Majestic Wine Warehouses, Waitrose and Constellation Wines.

The WSET Diploma, the Wine and Spirit Education Trust’s flagship qualification, is recognised as one of the top wine qualifications. Students must distinguish themselves in theoretical and practical knowledge concerned with grape growing and wine and spirits production, the world wine and spirit business as well as connoisseur level wine and spirits tasting.

Julia has undertaken study tours to Bordeaux, Champagne, Chianti and the Mosel Valley and a three-week road trip around the South Island of New Zealand visiting 25 wineries.

In addition, she judges at the International Wine Challenge and for the UK Vineyards Association.
