More than a thousand jobs are up for grabs at Manchester Airport, as it prepares for its busiest summer ever.
Recruiters will be on the hunt for budding drivers, ‘meet and greet’ workers, receptionists and security officers when they host an employment fair later this month at Old Trafford cricket ground.
The airport is able to offer more roles following months of continuing growth, according to the airport’s boss. A number of airlines have also announced they will be increasing services to and from the airport during the summer.
Airport CEO Ken O’Toole said: “Manchester Airport plays a vital role in providing international connectivity for the North and we are pleased to have delivered 34 consecutive months of growth, offering leisure and business passengers a broader choice of destinations than ever before in our history.
“But what is particularly pleasing about this growth is that it creates employment and training opportunities for people across the region, as well as a number of wider economic benefits.
“This year is set to be Manchester Airport’s busiest ever to date and the recruitment for these roles demonstrates the positive impact our growth has.
“We are looking forward to staging this jobs fair, along with other events across the region, to give as many people as possible access to employment at the airport.”
As well as roles with Manchester Airport, other employers recruiting include Swissport, Gate Gourmet, Menzies Aviation, Broderick’s and SSP.
The airport is also working with local authorities across Greater Manchester to hold a number of local events across the region in the coming weeks, so more people can find out about the jobs on offer at the airport.
More than 21,500 people are already directly employed on site at the airport, supporting a further 45,000 jobs in the region.
Anyone living in the region looking to snap up a job at the airport is invited to attend a recruitment event on Wednesday, February 22, at Lancashire County Cricket Club’s The Point complex at Old Trafford from 10am to 4pm.
Those wishing to attend can register for an hour’s time slot by visiting www.manchesterairport.co.uk/jobs-fair .
