THE SECRETARY of State for Energy and Climate Change was impressed on a visit to Capenhurst last week.

MP Edward Davey was brought up to speed on some of the latest developments in power technology during a visit to Capenhurst, hosted by EA Technology and its EnergyŠInnovation Centre.

He also met senior representatives of Britain’s electricity distribution companies to discuss how they will help deliver the Government’s Green Agenda.

Mr Davey said: “Innovation is essential to provide homes and businesses with energy that is affordable and reliable, as well as greener and cleaner.

“Clearly there are many exciting developments coming out of Capenhurst and a real commitment by the UK electricity industry to innovate.

“The ability of the electricity industry to meet the challenges ahead is vital to Britain’s future.

“In the technical sphere, EAŠTechnology in particular is showing the way as a world-class energy innovator that is making a growing contribution to our international trade and creating high quality jobs, as well as helping the UK industry become more efficient.”

During his visit Mr Davey met entrepreneurs who are developing new products in the Energy Innovation Centre, toured EAŠTechnology’s electronics laboratories and learned how the company’s Power Forensics facility has built a global reputation for investigating power system failures.
