SAINSBURY’S in Ellesmere Port are going the extra mile to raise money for Sport Relief.

On Friday colleagues at the store, on Kinsey Road, will raise funds for this year’s campaign by holding dance and colouring competitions, as well as cycling and rowing 300 miles.

Kayleigh Jones, a team leader at the Ellesmere Port store, will run with Sainsbury’s chief executive Justin King.

Kayleigh was nominated by colleagues to take part in Justin’s Sport Relief Mile Challenge, which saw the supermarket boss run 32 miles across the country from March 14-17.

One colleague from every Sainsbury’s store ran with Justin, meaning more than 1,000 colleagues will have run with Justin by the end of the challenge.

Justin King said: “I’m really looking forward to running in Stoke Britannia Stadium for my Sport Relief Mile Challenge and to meeting Kayleigh Jones. Our colleagues really do go the extra mile for Sport Relief so it will be a pleasure to run with them.

“In 2010, our customers and colleagues from Sainsbury’s Ellesmere Port helped us raise a massive £5.4 million for Sport Relief and with the great fundraising activities many of our stores already have planned, we’re hoping to go the extra mile to try and beat that target this year.”

Colleagues from Sainsbury’s Ellesmere Port will also run the Sainsbury’s Sport Relief Mile in the town.

Customers and Ellesmere Port residents taking part in the Sainsbury’s Sport Relief Mile can choose to do either one, three or six miles by entering at www.sportrelief.com/mile. It is £6 for adults, £3 for children and £15 for a family of four.

Customers can also make a donation to Sport Relief through the merchandise on sale at Sainsbury’s Ellesmere Port.
