McArthurGlen’s Cheshire Oaks Designer Outlet reported record breaking sales as shoppers flocked to take advantage of new brand openings and fantastic savings during the Christmas trading period.

From November 6 to December 24, 2014, a staggering increase in sales of 15% and 11% like-for-like uplift helped the centre to achieve its best ever Christmas sales period.

Following the record smashing peak day of Black Friday, the traditional “man dash” in the run-up to Christmas drove particularly strong sales and footfall to make Christmas Eve the next peak trading day with a bumper footfall and an increase in like-for-like sales of 8% in comparison to last year.

Standout categories for increases in like-to like sales were activewear (+29.1%), clothing (+26.2%), beauty (+18.1% ) and accessories (+14.0%).

Boxing Day sales proved popular as shoppers came in their droves to make the first day of the Winter Sale break records with the highest turnover ever achieved in one day. There was also a 5% increase in footfall during extended trading hours (6pm-10pm) as shoppers tried to squeeze in their purchases in the last hours of the day.

Kenny Murray, centre manager at Cheshire Oaks Designer Outlet says: “Our record Christmas results highlight that Cheshire Oaks Designer Outlet continues to be the ultimate one-stop-shop for all of your Christmas needs. The vast variety of gifting options and unbeatable savings following the festive season, saw the centre experience some of the best ever trading days since we first opened as the UK’s first designer outlet in 1995.”
