A HOTEL restaurant in Ledsham has been awarded two AA rosettes for its excellent food.

The British Grill restaurant at Macdonald Craxton Wood Hotel, Parkgate Road, Ledsham, has been presented with the rosettes for its British-inspired menu with a contemporary twist.

Its menu includes classics such as fish and chips, cottage pie, sticky toffee pudding and apple and blackberry crumble.

At just 22, head chef Aiden Byrne became the youngest chef to receive a Michelin star.

He went on to work in top restaurants in London and Dublin, winning his second Michelin star when working for the Commons restaurant.

Aiden said: “The menu at the British Grill has been specially designed to combine wholesome, comfort food with a contemporary flair.

“I’m extremely passionate about sourcing the finest ingredients for our dishes to ensure the ultimate meal for our customers.”

AA rosettes are solely awarded by AA hotel and restaurant inspectors.

Only 10% of restaurants nationwide are of a standard that is worthy of one rosette or above.

To receive two rosettes, a restaurant must be of excellent standard, precision must be apparent in the cooking and there will be obvious attention to the selection of the quality ingredients.

Nicola Underhill, general manager at Macdonald Craxton Wood Hotel, said: “We aim to go the extra mile to ensure all of our guests feel comfortable and important when they stay or dine with us.

“The restaurant and lounge areas have recently undergone a makeover to collaborate the homely yet sophisticated feel of the menu. It means a great deal to me and all the staff at Macdonald Craxton Wood Hotel to receive this accolade.”
